Women’s manager Joe McTiffen expressed his excitement as they begin their season this Sunday away to Whyteleafe.

The women’s last official league game was back in November 2020 with the Tigers only managing to play three games before COVID hit and the season came to an abrupt end. Joe explained how much he was looking forward to the season ahead by saying, “It has been a long time coming and I am¬†really excited to get going this Sunday. Although we played in the Spring Series earlier this year, you can’t beat the competitiveness of a league game. We travel to Whyteleafe which seems to be a ground we have visited many times over the past two years! The girls are ready and we want to continue from where we left off last season.”

Joe went on to say how this summer had been challenging for his team, “Pre season has been a bit stop start due to isolations, injuries, holidays, COVID etc, but after speaking to a number of managers, it seems to have been the same right across the country. You have to adapt and work with the players available each session, it’s something that we may have to deal with on a more regular basis but hopefully things start to improve.”

With a number of new signings in his squad, McTiffen expressed his delight on the players who have come in. “I am really pleased with the players we have managed to sign. A number of key quality and experienced individuals who have already brought so much to the team during pre season. I know what a tough division we are in and with other teams recruiting well, it’s going to be a very competitive league.”

The women kick off their league campaign this Sunday away to Whyteleafe, 1:30pm kick off.
