Saltdean United Women Delighted to Announce Zak Dove’s Continued Leadership

Saltdean United Women’s Football Club is thrilled to announce that Zak Dove will remain as our manager for another year, marking his third season at the helm. Zak’s commitment to the team and his exceptional leadership have been instrumental in our recent successes, and we are excited to see what the future holds under his guidance.

Zak’s tenure with Saltdean United Women has progressed year on year with the past season being a historic one for the club. Zak and his coaching staff led the team to victory in the Sussex Challenge Cup Trophy, beating local neighbours Newhaven FC, 3-0. This achievement was further complemented by our  journey in the Women’s FA Cup, where we reached the furthest round in the club’s history.

We are confident that with Zak’s leadership at the club for another year, Saltdean United Women will continue to build on these achievements and strive for even greater heights. The club, players, and supporters are all eagerly looking forward to the upcoming season, which should be a very exciting one with the new stadium on the way.

Director of football, Joe McTiffen said, “We are delighted that Zak has decided to stay on for another year. Last year was a special season for the team and it is clear to see the direction we are going in. Ever since he took over, there has been a clear progression on the pitch and a clear identity in the way we want to play. We are attracting some top class players who want to wear the Saltdean shirt and I believe our aim of National League football is not too far away!”

Club Captain, Georgia Bridges added, “I am delighted Zak has committed to his 3rd season at Saltdean. The effect he’s had on the squad, on individuals and the club over the past two seasons is remarkable. It’s rare you come across managers that excel both tactically and emotionally and he’s got both! With Zak behind us next season is hopefully going to be another for the history books!”

Whilst we are delighted with the news of Zak continuing, unfortunately we will be saying goodbye to Assistant Manger, Tom Saunters. Tom was brought in to the first team set up over three years ago and has been an integral part of the progression that the team has had. His determination, professionalism and commitment is going to be very hard to replace with him being a popular figure in the dressing room. However, Tom has decided that it is the right time to step away and although he has no immediate plans to move on, he will be looking to stay in the women’s game.

Georgia added, “We’re sad to see Tom leaving the Tigers Den, he really is part of the furniture and will leave a huge little Tom hole. He does so much behind the scenes which will be massively missed, including his sun cream reminders!”

We would like to say a massive thank you to Tom for all of his hard work and wish him well in the future wherever that may be. He will always be welcome down at Hill Park.
