Things are starting to take shape at Hill Park, with pitch contractors Hunts making great progress with the playing surface. The permeable tarmac has been laid to form the base of the pitch, ready for the shock pad and finally the 3G carpet to be laid in the coming weeks. Fencing work has begun and Hunts are installing spectator rails and boundary fencing as well as the paths and hard landscaping.

The project team at Saltdean met with our pitch consultant from Surfacing Standards Ltd, representatives from Hunts, and our architect from LA Architects last week to review progress. Everyone at the club is delighted with how the pitch and grounds are shaping up.

The clubhouse has seen some progression in recent weeks, with the completion of the steel frame and the start of the roof installation this week.

On the ground floor, plumbing work has continued with terminals for the kitchen areas, electricians have continued cabling and installing trays in the ceilings.

We were excited to make a start on kitchen planning for the ground floor kitchen as well as discussions around the main kitchen in the first floor clubhouse. It was great to have Howdens on site to discuss plans. Meanwhile the admin team are planning a trip to the new Ikea in Brighton to start sizing up desks for their new office!

Behind the scenes lots of work is going on with the team of club volunteers, managing our fixtures schedules while we ground share, working through every detail of the plans and compiling all necessary paperwork in order for us to be ready to hit the ground running when the works are complete.

Meanwhile our youth teams are back on the grass pitches at Hill Park and it’s been great to hear the excitement as they can see the new pitch and grounds emerging.

We are getting close now!!
