There has been some great progress on the clubhouse build in the last couple of months as we see the brickwork go up and the building start to take shape.
The legacy team were lucky enough to take a look beyond the hoarding last week and get a sense of the rooms on the ground floor. The team are delighted to finally be at the stage where they can start looking at fixtures and fittings to kit out the new changing rooms, kitchens, offices and clubhouse.

The bricks for the new build were chosen to reflect the agricultural buildings in the local area and will look stunning in our grounds that flank the South Downs National Park.

Our thanks go out to Women’s First Team player Molly Hill for playing an integral part in sourcing the brickwork contractors, through her employers Crest Nicholson. Thanks to Molly’s involvement in the process the brickwork is being provided by local subcontractors and club sponsors De-Ath Bros.

Using local contractors has always been a priority for this project and we are inviting more local trades to tender for various aspects of the build.
SUFC Legacy Project Manager & Women’s DS coach Martin Perkins said:
“It’s a great opportunity for businesses in our local community to be involved in the project, many of whom have been involved in the club as players, parents, or sponsors over the years. They will become part of the fabric of the building and part of the Saltdean United Legacy for years to come”.
Next month will see the steel work for the first floor starting, with the overall structure of the building taking shape through April and May.
Elsewhere on the site, groundworks continue on the Northern boundary with a new retaining wall being built ready for the fencing and planting to complete that side of the grounds.

A 3G pitch contractor has been appointed, surveys completed, and preparations being done to get us ready to begin works at the end of the season. Meanwhile our Groundsman Dan has done an incredible job, battling the elements to keep our games on the grass pitch on as much as possible. It’s fair to say we won’t miss the mud!
There’s lots to look forward to in the coming months and we thank the committee members, volunteers, project managers, and contractors for their hard work and dedication to the project. The end is in sight!
